I have found it to be enormously difficult to live in the moment. I sometimes wonder if this is a result of our culture, the need to be constantly entertained or entertaining, or is it a deliberately designed attack by Satan to keep us constantly "busy". I find I constantly need to pause and consider where I am and am I bringing glory to our great God in "this" moment or am I rushing forward to the next thing and leaving the previous task incomplete because of my lust to "get there".

I have listened, and occasionally still do listen, to Driscoll sermons. I don't agree with him on everything, but there is some good Bible teaching in there and obviously he is a very talented communicator. It is easy to see the battle that Driscoll faces to bring keep natural personality traits in line with God's expectations of us. As the essay mentions, it is too often the hobby of believers to critique and tear down, looking for the slightest misstep. Driscoll has lots of missteps, but clearly he has a passion for teaching God's Word. I hope that he and every other Bible teacher is choosing to make themselves accountable to others for their doctrine, behavior and attitudes. I am not sure that happened much at MHC; I do hope it is happening in his new church. God has gifted Driscoll tremendously. We should be praying that he keeps his focus on glorifying God alone.
